The Only War That Matters.
"The enemy is real" , Jon Snow kept ranting.

And Cersei and Daenerys be like |
No one could believe it except for the ones who had seen it for themselves. And one would have to travel north, to the land covered with ice to see it for themselves. Yet both queens would not care to. Instead they raced down the chutes, wrestling, entwined, obsessed with the iron throne to history's ruthless incinerator.
I could picture George R R Martin, with his famously long beard, sitting in a corner watching us brooding over the show and the twists and turns in the storyline and the countless fan theories with a devious little smirk on his face and asking, "are you watching closely?"
It is so obvious that once you see it, you can't unsee it.
The analogy is hard to miss, the metaphors splendid and the brilliance unmistakable.
I'll list the analogies I've found so far and you can comment the rest.

1. White walkers were created by the children to prevent humans from destroying the forests. Or to put it another way, humans destroying the forests lead to the danger that is white walkers.
2. Thousands of years ago, the first men battled the white walkers and survived. Legend has it that they didn't kill the white walkers, but just put them to sleep to return later. But this time they're stronger and it is doubtful that humans might survive them.
I believe it refers to the first ice age, which humans survived, and the second impending climate change that we clearly are unlikely to survive.
3. "This is a generation who hasn't seen winter." "This is the longest summer in history."
All suggests that we are in a period between two ice ages.
4. No one believes the threat to be real. Especially the ones in power, the ones who matter. They're obsessed with ruling the world, aka, the Iron throne, and the seven kingdoms could very well refer to the seven continents.
5. To see the change for themselves they would have to travel to the land covered with ice.
Duh. Obviously.

And Donald *cough * *cough * Trump, despite scientists with proof telling him otherwise, believes climate change to be a Chinese conspiracy.
7. The Arch Meister saying to Sam that every winter that has happened has ended must be pointing fingers at scientists who know the truth but choosing to live in denial.
8. Beric to Jon: "The enemy always wins."
Errr.. This one needs no explanation. And probably could be a spoiler to the iron throne conundrum after all, and in extension, to the fate of humanity.
Okay folks. These are the references that I could find. Go ahead and list the ones you found.
